very usefull mount but

if you assemble it without the arm (v1 from manual) the center M5 bolt protrudes through the base plate, so some modification is needed for attaching the mount to a flat surface.

A well made part but expensive for what it is

For the purpose intended this mount is expensive for the utility it provides. Needing a plate to convert the SP Connect charging anti vibration module to an existing AMPS mount (OEM Ducati) this seemed the only option, other than drilling the AMPS plate on the Ducati mount and bolting the AV module directly to that, removing the need for this item. As with probably virtually all AMPS GPS mounts the one I have can pivot the plate so the same function built into this mount is redundant and not required. That having been said I purchased this as I had no desire to drill my existing mount.

There is an option to remove the angle adjustable part and just use the base as an expensive converter plate. I tired this but the special Allen bolts with the narrow head that the SP Connect charging anti vibration module uses (two bolts of different length come with that), is either too long and the bolt bottoms out against the AMPS plate I'm mounting to, or the shorter bolt has too little thread to prevent the possibility of stripping of the thread in the GPS cradle mount base plate.

So in the end I am using the complete mount with the angle adjustment part attached but only because of the too long/too short special bolt included with the charging anti vibration module.

Like all SP Connect parts the engineering and finish are excellent. Though this part is somewhat over designed, the the inclusion of the angle adjustment, to solve a problem that doesn't really exist. It would have been cheaper and more effective just as the AMPS compatible plate with a suitably threaded hole for SP Connect mounts... I was torn between three and four stars but chose the latter. Also recommendation is something that's hard to quantify, but for my purpose there's nothing I could find that would have done this so have to say 'yes', just be aware of the shortcomings. Maybe SP Connect should either include a suitable length special bolt or the option to add one to the order at a reasonable extra cost.
